Hotel Sixties (apreviously called chic&basic Ramblas) is a hotel and an exhibition at the same time. Situated in the centre of Barcelona, right next to las Ramblas, Ciutat Vella (Old Town), el Raval, and el Born, it is inspired by the aesthetic, glamour, characters and history of the 60s. In the reception you will be welcomed by an authentic Seat 600 from the time.
Every floor in the hotel is dedicated to a theme related to Barcelona in the 60s, one of the most charismatic decades of all time. The great photos and murals which decorate the rooms and corridors will transport you to the years of the 600, the twist, the bikini and the advertising boom.
The first floor is dedicated to the writers, architects and the intelectual jetsetters of Barcelona in the 60s, better known as the ‘Gauche divine’. They all used their creativity and freedom as weapons to challenge the political panorama of the era.
On the second floor, a wide range of big public pop-art posters which cover the rooms' doors reminds of the consumerist growth which characterized Barcelona in the decade.
The third floor is dedicated to the icons and pioneers of design and fashion who managed to transcend geographical borders and time, remaining relevant today.
The socio-cultural change that began to make Barcelona more cosmopolitan in the last years of the Franco regime protagonize the visual elements of the 4th floor.
The fifth and sixth floors are dedicated to the upturn of European tourism that flooded the city in the 60s and to the iconic symbols of the decade, such as the hippies, paella, bullfighters, the bikini, the beach and flamenco dancing.
